Super Bowl Vs TBS 1st Sunday Blues Jam

Hey blues lovers,

Every year the TBS 1st Sunday Open Blues Jam and the Super Bowl collide. Usually the Super Bowl wins, so we’ve decided this year to listen to the numbers and cancel the February 4th TBS 1st Sunday Open Blues Jam.

The Blue Note Grill will still be serving up some fine football fixin’s in case you want to start your party there!

Make sure to put March 4th on your calendar for Bert Wray Blues all the way from Charlotte!

Bert Wray Blues brings together slide-guitarist/singer Bert Wray with drummer Mitch Cooper and bassist Dave Wall. The band’s music merges the vintage juke joint sound with plenty of Carolina twang and fresh songwriting. Equally inspired by Delta blues pioneers, rockabilly cats, and 1960’s blues-rockers, the trio hits the sweet spot between classic blues and good ol’ rock and roll.

Mixing the past with the present is what it is all about at Bert Wray Blues. The trio emerged from the players’ deep North Carolina musical roots. In fact, Mitch once signed Bert’s band to his Third Lock Records back in the alternative music revolution! Dave and Bert met while working in a greasy kitchen, and they bonded over their record collections and blues guitars. It was inevitable that these guys would one day join forces to create Bert Wray Blues.

So come on out and enjoy some blues, eat some great food, support the Triangle Blues Society (TBS), meet some new friends or just hang out with some old ones … and have a great time!

Thanks again to everyone who supported our 2018 Road to Memphis winners. Blues City Blues Band advanced to the quarter-finals and we’re so proud of them. We heard they flat tore up Beale Street!
