The Bull City Blues Band have been North Carolina original modern piedmont blues artists since 1991. Charlley Ward and Daniel Anderson provide tandem lead and slide guitars and are the group’s songwriters. Charlley is also the group’s lead vocalist. The rhythm section consists of Eddie Werz and Dana Thalhiemer. Eddie studied bass at both Virginia Commonwealth University and Berklee School of Music and Dana studied percussion at North Texas State University where he acquired an undergraduate degree in jazz studies.

The Bull City Blues Band were the recent winners of the 2016 Cape Fear Blues Challenge and are previous winners of The Piedmont Blues Society Blues Challenge. They have performed live in support of the notable piedmont blues artist John D. Holman and has performed as opening act or on the same bill with: Pinetop Perkins, Bob Margolin, Safire -Uppity Blues Women, Cephas and Wiggins, Walter Wolfman Washington, Aaron Funderburk and the Rockets and Tyrone Davis.

Triangle Blues Society (TBS), is a 501(c3) all-volunteer non-profit organization that has been an affiliate member of The Blues Foundation in Memphis since 1996, working together to support, promote, and grow blues music in the greater Raleigh-Durham North Carolina area.
