Breaking News

Last month, 79 years young John Dee Holeman had an emergency stent procedure to address a blockage. He's now feeling better than ever!

To help make up for income lost during his recovery, and help defray unexpected medical expenses, TBS, TRB, Andy Coats and Pizza Palace have teamed up for a special event on Friday, August 29. This EARLY SHOW allows blues lovers with other late night music plans to do both.

And we're in for a treat!! Ever the gracious gentleman, John Dee wants to say thank you by coming out to play his own benefit.

Let's join together on August 29 to help out a sweet fella who's given us 65 (and counting!) years of blues.

John Dee Holeman, a history lesson in blues, is a 1988 recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship, the highest honor that the U.S. bestows upon traditional artists (profile at www.nea.gov/honors/heritage/fellows/fellow.php?id=1988_06). In
1994, he was awarded the North Carolina Folk Heritage Award (see
www.ncarts.org/artist_page.cfm?ser=35889&num=35389&). No artificial
sweetener here -- this is the real stuff. Pure raw cane sugar blues!!

Kudos to Papa Mojo's! Best Cajun/Creole food in NC, reasonable prices, and bringing in top NC blues, often at only a $5 cover. Let's support 'em and help 'em keep growing as a venue!
