Contagious Blues Band and Andy Coats win 2007 Triangle Blues Challenge!
Both artists will go on to represent the TBS in the 2008 International Blues Challenge.
Hey, blues brothers and sisters -- thank you for making our 2007 Blues Challenge one of the biggest and best yet! We had 7 acts and a PACKED house from beginning to end. The compeition was tough as every act brought thier best. In the endtwo stood victorious and will represent the TBS in Memphis, TN at the 2008 International Blues Challenge (Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2008).
We had 7 acts compete in two categories
Solo/Duo Category
Andy Coats,
Clark Stern, T-Hammer - Andy Coats was crowned the winner and will represent the TBS in the Solo/Duo category at the 2008 International Blues Challenge.
Band Category
Bad Mojo,
Contagous Blues Band,
Hip Sauce,
and ROOTZIE - After tabulating the scores (and it was a CLOSE, TOUGH competition) the Contagious Blues Band from Charlotte, NC took the top prize and will represent the TBS in the Band category at the 2008 International Blues Challenge.
Each winner received these prizes...
1 paid gig at the Blue Bayou Club
1 paid gig at Yancy's Jazz & Blues
10 Hours FREE Rehearsal time at Dynamic Sound Rehearsal Studios
Financial Assistance in getting to Memphis, TN
...and the band winner won a slot at the 2008 Bull Durham Blues Festival!BIG THANKS to Dianne Pledger and the St. Joseph's Historic Foundation from getting our winner back on that stage! That's right, from here on out the band winner of the TBS Blues Challenge will grace the stage at the following years Bull Durham Blues Festival.
And the music didnt end there. The evening ended on a raucous high-note when members of Edsel 500 and Mighty Lester took the stage to rock-a-blues-a-billy the night away. Big thanks to FJ and Dave Quick frm Edsel and Rick and Jeff from Mighty Lester for swinging out to do that for us!
Already looking forward to the 2008 TBS Blues Challenge. We will announce dates for the 2008 Challenge in early 2008.
